Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. The d’Angludet 2007 has a light, rather clayey nose that is lacking some definition and it seems a little advanced. The palate is rather sharp on the entry with bitter dark berried fruit and pointed tannins, lacking length on the hard finish. Tasted January 2011.

Tasted at the UGC in London. This d’Angludet ’07 is rather closed on the nose with leafy blackberry, a touch of earth but it needs more fruit intensity. The palate is better with good weight on the entry, brambly red fruits, quite sharp acidity but fresh, if slightly disjointed on the finish. Drink now-2015. Tasted November 2009.

An intense nose of black berries, a touch of under-ripeness coming through. Quite earthy. The palate is a bit better but there is some sharp acidity here – a rather pointed with a short green finish. May improve by time of bottling. Hopefully! Tasted April 2008.

D-Angludet performed much better from bottle than it did from cask. It reveals attractive floral, black cherry, blueberry, licorice, and asphalt characteristics in its medium-bodied, ripe, round, elegant personality. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years.

About the Producer

Château Angludet is a wine estate located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Margaux appellation in the Médoc, on the left bank of the Gironde River. The estate is managed by Benjamin Sichel, who passionately adopts biodynamic practices to craft exceptional red wines. Benefiting from the protective effect of the Gironde Estuary, the vineyard of Angludet has a rich viticultural heritage that spans over 300 years. The vineyard expresses the terroir to its fullest, characterized by sandy gravel soils that are particularly well-suited for grape cultivation. It is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. Starting from 2017, Benjamin Sichel decided to incorporate three different species of fruit trees. A succession of apple trees, peach trees, and plum trees now accompany the vineyard work. Today, there are over 200 trees that have become an integral part of the viticultural landscape of Angludet.
