Bright ruby-red. Lovely lift to the aromas of raspberry, Asian spices and flowers. Supple and intensely flavored, with an almost pinot-like silkiness of texture to its red fruit and spice fla vors. Very graceful, lush wine with real depth and brea dth. Finishes subtle, gripping and long.

Rich and chewy if a bit backward and sullen today, with flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate and licorice. Dry, classic and light on its feet. This should gain in complexity with elevage

Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. The Palmer 2007 has a very fine bouquet with macerated dark cherries, loganberry, cedar and a touch of graphite. Very good definition and lift. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, some lovely ripe Merlot lending corpulence and lushness, though without compromising structure. The breeding is evident here and it represents one of the finest wines of the appellation this year. Bravo Thomas. Tasted January 2011.

A deep purple/garnet core. The nose is very backward at first, but there is good fruit intensity and no sign of any under-ripeness. Good selection here. Blackberry, a touch of kirsch and violets. The palate is an understated entry, but do not let this fool you because there are certainly some robust tannins here married with some earthy blackberry fruits, a touch of sea salt with a cedary, tobacco infused finish which is more Cabernet than usual. A blend of 49% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2007 Palmer possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as attractive smoky charcoal, blackberry, and plum aromas, good purity, excellent texture, and a soft, fleshy mouthfeel. It should drink well for 10-12 years.

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Palmer has an opulent bouquet for the vintage, something almost Mediterranean tincturing the lifted red berry fruit laced with sage and even a suggestion of oregano. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, a fine bead of acidity, gentle and caressing but with a powerful, almost heady finish. If you are looking for an extravagant wine this vintage, then Palmer is the place to come, though maybe it has just dispensed a little of its luster since I last tasted it. Tasted February 2017.
