A strong effort from this improving estate, the 2020 Camensac reveals aromas of rich cherries, cassis and truffle framed by a deft touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and impressively concentrated, it's attractively pure, with powdery tannins and a vanillin-inflected finish. Give it a little time to digest its élevage, and it will offer excellent drinking.
About the Producer
Located in the village of Saint-Laurent in Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, bordering the Saint-Julien appellation, Chateau de Camensac is one of the few Grand Cru Classés in the Haut-Medoc. Although the Haut-Medoc appellation does not have the same impressive track record as the four great villages of the Médoc, the quality of the wines produced is still highly praised. (La Closerie de Camensac, Haut-Medoc, France), Bailly De Camensac, Haut-Medoc, France, and Second De Camensac, Haut-Medoc, France, with an annual production of 200-300,000 bottles. The main wine, the Second De Camensac, Haut-Medoc, France, is of excellent quality and has often received over 90 points from leading wine critics and wine reviewers.
