The Château de Camensac 2014 is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a classic, undergrowth-scented bouquet with satisfactory, slightly rustic black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with pleasant rounded tannin that soften the mouthfeel. There is good depth here although it needs to show a little more elegance and finesse on the finish. There is substance - now it needs to find requisite class by the time of bottling. Tasted three times.

The 2014 Camensac has a vivid and vivacious bouquet with bright black cherry and boysenberry fruit, a touch of pencil lead developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with thickset tannin, an Haut-Medoc of commendable structure that may well see it aging more slowly than others. I appreciate the fruit concentration here, while it exerts a pleasant grip on the finish. Give it two or three years in bottle just to soften those edges.

Located in the village of Saint-Laurent in Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, bordering the Saint-Julien appellation, Chateau de Camensac is one of the few Grand Cru Classés in the Haut-Medoc. Although the Haut-Medoc appellation does not have the same impressive track record as the four great villages of the Médoc, the quality of the wines produced is still highly praised.
