Description
Chateau Latour is among the First Growth properties classified in the Bordeaux 1855 Classification. The estate is situated in the southern portion of Pauillac, bordering St. Julien and the Gironde estuary. Latour is considered one of the longest-lasting First Growths, reflecting its high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau Latour has an almost unequaled track record for producing stunning wines that age and evolve for decades, if not generations.
Tasting notes

Garnet core with degradated brick rim. A nose has moderate intensity: roasted herbs, truffles and black rustic fruit. More vigour and intensity than Mouton. The palate is well-knit with typical pencil-lead, cedar flavours. Perhaps somewhat four-square. Drink up. Tasted February 2003.

Curiously, the 1984 tastes nearly as fine as the lightish 1985. Spicy, woodsy, mineral, herbal scents and ripe fruit swell in the glass. It has good length and grip, plus adequate tannin for 5-9 years of further cellaring. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/89.
