Tasting notes

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Marquis de Terme leaps from the glass with notes of baked plums, warm blackberries and cassis plus touches of wild sage, tree bark and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied, the palate is bight, fresh and easygoing with a good amount of uncomplicated red and black fruit and an herbal lift to the finish.

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Marquis de Terme offers delicate raspberry tart and blackberry pie notions with hints of potpourri, baking spices and dusty soil. Medium-bodied with a velvety texture and just enough red and black fruits in the mouth, it finishes on an earthy note.

The 2017 Marquis de Terme is absolutely gorgeous from the very first taste. It's great to see the 2017 has turned out so well, as it was so promising in barrel. The purity of the flavors is truly remarkable. A wine of total sophistication and polish, Marquis de Terme has a lot to offer. Time in the glass just brings out its gracious, super-refined personality even further. The 2017 finishes with terrific freshness, cut and nuance.

The 2017 Marquis de Terme is wonderfully deep, fleshy and seductive. A wine of real charm, the 2017 possesses striking depth and nuance. Black cherry, plum, licorice, menthol and chocolate are all fused together in this decidedly racy, succulent Margaux. The 2017 was super-polished and exceptionally beautiful both times I tasted it. In a word: terrific.

The 2017 Marquis de Terme has a fragrant bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, wild hedgerow and light loamy aromas that gradually unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, plenty of dusky red fruit laced with cedar and leather, the finish demonstrating fine grip if just missing some complexity and breeding.

The 2017 Marquis de Terme has a clean, conservative, slightly tertiary bouquet with touches of black truffle and smoke. It just needs a little more energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, quite focused and poised, albeit missing the depth of the previous two vintages. I noticed a lick of dark mocha appearing towards the finish that just blurs its definition. It is quite an easy-drinking Marquis de Termes to enjoy over the next 10 to 12 years.

The 2017 Marquis de Terme was picked from September 18 to October 5. It has a slightly rustic bouquet compared to the previous two vintages, which is a little meatier, maybe with just a touch of Brett. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry, fine acidity, nicely focused and cleaner than the nose. Mocha and touches of leather surface towards the finish, supple and perhaps just missing a bit of grip. Fine, though, it was probably earlier drinking than other vintages. Tasted at the Marquis de Terme vertical.

Solid Margaux for the vintage with currant and berry character. Medium to full body and a juicy finish. Mineral and dark-chocolate undertones.

A fresh, racy red with currant, raspberry and light cedar notes through the medium-bodied palate. Firm, polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Tight, but showing brightness and focus. Drink after 2022.

About the Producer

The grapes of the Marquis de Damon estate are all hand-picked, and only the grapes that have been strictly screened can enter the subsequent winemaking process. During the brewing process, the winery uses gravity to transport the grape juice, not pumping. The grape juice will be fermented in concrete tanks, stainless steel tanks or temperature-controlled oak barrels, and the fermented wine will be transferred to French oak barrels to mature for 16-18 months (of which the proportion of new barrels is 50%). Starting from the 2016 vintage, the manor has also specially used wine bottles with anti-counterfeiting and product tracking functions to package the wines of the winery. Consumers can use the QR code scanning function of smartphones to enter relevant websites to complete the identification of wines. At present, the Marquis de Damon mainly produces five types of red wines, among which the quality of the authentic wine, the Chateau Marquis de Terme, Margaux, France, is particularly excellent. Powerful and elegant, this wine is full-bodied, tannin and chewy, with rich fruit flavors and a balanced structure. It has won many wine competitions and many leading wine critics and wine critics. High score.
