The 2015 Marojallia is strong. Succulent plum, mocha, lavender and spice flesh out in those deep, plush Margaux. Deep, plush and exotically ripe in the glass, the 2015 is unapologetically flamboyant from start to finish. As good as the 2015s, I feel that, like the Margalaine, a measure of freshness and nuance was lost in aging. I suspect the bottled 2015 would have been closer to the barrel samples had the wine been bottled a bit earlier.

A total pleasure bomb, the 2015 Marojallia is flat-out stunning. This spectacularly rich, flamboyant Margaux is endowed with serious depth to match its deep, unctuous personality. Layers of dark red cherry, plum, smoke, violets and menthol build as the wine opens up with air. Don't expect subtlety or restraint; Marojallia is an extravagantly lush, vivid, modern Margaux. But you will want a second glass after your first, and another after that. Marojallia is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot that saw 4-5 weeks on the skins and 100% new oak. The 2015 Marojallia, from vines located between Le Tertre and Monbrison, is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. It unfolds in the glass with sumptuous black cherry and bilberry scents, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a little chalky in texture and it is quite muscular towards the finish, but it lingers nicely in the mouth. This has great potential, one of the best Marojallias that I have tasted.

The 2015 Marojallia, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, has a clean and pure floral bouquet with rose petal-infused raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, crisp acidity, nicely balanced with quite a structured, maybe short finish that should gain more volume with bottle age. Give this three or four years in bottle because there is wonderful freshness here and a second bottle evidenced more complexity.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot aged in 100% new French oak barrels, the 2015 Marojallia has an earthy, meaty, gamey nose with a core of baked cherries and mulberries and a waft of dusty earth. The palate is firm, chewy, a little lean and astringent with an herbal lift.

Aromatic and bright with currant and flower character. Mushroom undertones. Full-bodied, layered and chewy with lots of ripe tannins and a long, beautiful finish. Powerful. Needs three or four years to soften. Try in 2022.
About the Producer
When the first vintage wine was launched, there were only 2.5 hectares of vineyards. Later, Philippe Polcheron purchased another 1.5 hectares of vineyards. Today, the total vineyard area of the Marrocians is 4 hectares. The garden is planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, with an average age of 25 years, harvested by hand. The vines are planted at a density of 10,000 plants/ha, but yields are only 2,500 litres/ha. The wines of Château Maroga are usually vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel barrels, followed by Malolactic Fermentation in wooden barrels. The real wines are all aged for 18 to 24 months in new French oak barrels before bottling, with an annual output of about 1,250 cases. The wines launched by the winery include Chateau Marojallia Clos Margalaine, Chateau Marojallia Benjamin De Margalaine, and Marojallia Clos Margalaine. Chateau Marojallia Rose De Margalaine. Although the distinctive winemaking concept of Chateau Maroga has been questioned by many local wineries, its excellent quality is the best proof.
