Tasting notes

Deep garnet in color, this wine has a moderately intense nose of black raspberry, red currant, cinnamon stick, cloves and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. The medium-full bodied palate is tight knit with medium-firm, chewy tannins and a good amount of acid, finishing long. A somewhat lighter, more elegant style.

The 2008 Tenuta di Trinoro sweeps across the palate with layers of beautifully articulated fruit, violets, spices and minerals, while avoiding the heaviness and overripeness that characterized some of the wines of the past. The tannins and the oak both need several years to fully harmonize, but this is a soft, impeccably refined Tenuta to treasure over the next two decades, perhaps longer. The 2008 Tenuta is approximately 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028. Andrea Franchetti is one of Italy’s most fascinating wine personalities. Year after year Franchetti puts compelling juice in the bottle. His wines from Trinoro, in one of the most remote corners of Tuscany, remain some of my favorite reds on the planet. Franchetti describes 2008 as ‘tropical’ in terms of the amount of rain that fell in his vineyards. This was a very late harvest, even by Franchetti’s typically relaxed standards, as the vines struggled to recover from the stress they experienced in 2007. Importer: T. The 2008 Tenuta di Trinoro is a weaker link in this exceptional succession of delicious wines. The growing season was characterized by heavy rains and soggy conditions. Despite the cooler year, fruit ripeness is pushed forward to its maximum to offer big inner warmth and opulence. However, the wine delivers less complexity and fewer of the fine nuances of the other vintages in this vertical (most particularly the delicious 2009 vintage that I tasted immediately before this sample). Although this edition is slightly more simple and monolithic in definition, it does offer plushness and dark fruit richness that extends generously to all the senses, both the nose and the mouth. Because there are some signs of premature oxidation, I will suggest a more conservative drinking window.

About the Producer

Tenuta di Trinoro is located in the Tuscany wine region of Italy. The Val d'Orcia is located between the mountains south of Siena and Mount Amiata, much like a huge bowl of green earth, the winds circling in the valley shield the area from rain And the attack of bad weather is conducive to the production of unique wines. Winemaker Andrea Franchetti of Black Swan Winery has spent many years researching the soil characteristics and terroir of the region, and is committed to producing high-quality wines that perfectly reflect the unique terroir of the wine grapes. wine. The vineyards of Black Swan Winery are between 450 meters and 600 meters above sea level. They are built on mountains, on the southwest slope of the Orcia Valley, with plenty of sunlight and a dry climate. The soils of the vineyards are mainly composed of deep gravel soils, calcareous clays and fluvial sedimentary soils. The main grape varieties grown in the garden are Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Semillon and Petit. Verdot) et al. According to different altitudes and soil characteristics, the winery grows the most suitable grape varieties and strictly manages them. The classic wine of Black Swan Winery, Tenuta di Trinoro blended wine, has slight differences due to the different grape harvest years, from which you can taste the weather of the Orcia Valley. In addition, the winery also produces a series of wines such as Palazzi, Magnacosta and Le Cupole, which are very popular among consumers. Among them, Le Cupole is made from high-quality grapes that have been harvested 36 times, and the style is very unique.
