The 2015 Laroque is a wine that clearly benefits from decanting if you are intending to broach this young. The nose is closed and the palate a tad bitter at first, but allow this a modest 30 minutes and bingo, suddenly the nose is flooded with blackberry, boysenberry and touches of cassis. Yes, there is just a mote of warmth from the alcohol but nothing to go get up about. The palate is ripe and concentrated yet maintains fine balance, rounded and velvety in texture once given appropriate aeration with a sweet, slightly saline finish. I can see this giving drinkers at least a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure. Laroque is a Saint-Émilion to look out for.

The 2015 Laroque is one of the grandest properties in Saint Émilion - an expansive vineyard with a château that would make most Left Bank properties look small. It has an attractive bouquet with dark black cherries, cassis and violets, well defined and with attractive, expressive Merlot that is kept under control. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, well-judged acidity, cohesive in the mouth with black fruit, a touch of truffle and a pleasant saline finish. New winemaker David Siure (see Pavie-Macquin, Larcis-Ducasse etc) has clearly had an impact on this Saint Émilion, and delivered a wine commensurate of its grand building. This will be a name to follow in the future.

The 2015 Laroque is a sumptuous, racy wine. Bright red stone fruit, plum, blood orange, mint and wild flowers are all pushed forward in this deceptively medium-bodied Saint-Émilion. The 10% Cabernet Franc makes a significant contribution to the wine's aromatic top register and bright, saline-infused finish. There is a level of depth and overall silkiness in this old-vine Saint-Émilion that is quite appealing. The 2015 is tasty and promising, even at this early stage.

The purity of fruit in this is superb with blackberry and blueberry character. Rose petals and salt as well. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a fresh and cool finish. Clearly the best wine ever from here. 89% merlot with the rest in cabernet franc and a dash of cabernet sauvignon.

Attractive dark plums and berries with hints of mocha, leading to an upbeat, fleshy palate. Dark chocolate, berry and plum flavors with plush, lengthy tannins. Drink or hold.

Since the 12th century, Château Laroque has occupied an historical terroir, a mix of limestone rock and fine clays, superbly located on the slopes and high boint of the plateau of Saint-Emilion. Superbly located on one of the highest points of Saint-Emilion, Laroque's limestone terroirs have once again shone through brilliantly in this 201% They have produced wines that are bright, floral and spicy, with fresh salinity and a noble texture, which are the hallmark traits of this estate.
