Description
San Lorenzo is a hill in Verduno next to that of Monvigliero, with the same type of soil, but slightly less elevated and not quite so steep. The wine that originates here is considered finer and more “feminine”. A very complex and balanced Barolo that brings out the typical floral sensations of the Nebbiolo grape. The palate is elegant and harmonious with tannins that are usually quite sweet and smooth.

The Fratelli Alessandria 2022 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno opens to a vein of delicate sweetness with wild cherry and raspberry that segue to bluebell blossom and lightly crushed chalk. The wine remains streamlined and lean in texture with a delicate embroidery of red berry fruit that carries gracefully over a silky finish. As is often the case with the 2022 vintage, the mid-palate is on the slender side, favoring finesse over depth. Fratelli Alessandria was the first estate to bottle Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno, with the inaugural vintage released in 1997. Production is 4,500 bottles.
