Tasting notes

Reviewed by: William Kelley
The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, ripe lemons, wheat toast, hazelnut and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with lovely purity and balance, a deep, tensile core and a reserved profile that will demand some bottle age.

The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a taut, focused nose, poised and mineral-driven, exuding nascent energy and revealing hints of lemon verbena and shucked oyster shell with time. The taut, fresh palate is well balanced and very saline in the mouth, delivering fine definition and a vibrant, orange-zest-tinged, slightly chalky finish. Very classy and with so much more to give. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
