Description

Colore is the highest expression of Bibi Graetz dream, from very old vineyards of Sangiovese. Poor soils mixed with sand and stone and high altitude create the perfect terroir for a wine that tells a lot about Tuscany and its ancient taste. Only the best few barrels of the whole production will become Colore.

This is a superb set of releases and I can’t recommend the wines highly enough. There are only 900 bottles of the 2004 Colore, a blend of 70% Canaiolo, and 30% Colorino. It is a soft, supple effort endowed with plush dark cherry fruit and an accessible personality, with awesome elegance and notable overall balance. The Colore is a selection made from the estate’s three best barrels, two of the Canaiolo and one of the Colorino. It is another stunning wine from Bibi Graetz. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2017. Aromas of blackberries, dark cherries and flowers with hints of spice. Medium-bodied with round tannins that are soft and beautiful. Balanced and soft now. Holding on nicely.

About the Producer

Bibi Graetz is one of the best wine producers in Tuscany, which has become famous for its Soffocone di Vincigliata, Colore, Testamatta Rosso and Bianco wines. Its grapes come from vines of about 80 years of age, the autochthonous: Sangiovese, Colorino and Cannaiolo. The Bibi Graetz estate is located in Vincigliata, a small village behind the Fiesole hill.
