Dark and brooding, the 2011 Chambertin Clos de Bèze is fabulous today. Stylistically, the Bèze is quite a bit richer than the Chambertin, although it lacks just a touch of that wine's finesse. That is a pretty small complaint for a wine that delivers so much pure intensity. Layers of dark blue/purplish fruit fill out the wine's frame effortlessly, followed by violet, spice, smoke and licorice overtones. In 2011, the Bèze is exotic, resonant and compelling to the core.
About the Producer
Domaine Pierre Damoy is located in the village of Gevrey Chambertin in the Cote de Nuits appellation of Burgundy, France, and is one of the star wineries in the village for the production of fine Pinot Noir wines. The wine is one of the star wineries in the village for its excellent Pinot Noir. The vineyards are managed organically by hand, from the cultivation of the vineyards to the pruning of the vines and the harvesting of the grapes, all of which is done by hand. At the same time, in order to maintain a balanced and sustainable ecological environment, Château Pierre Damois never uses pesticides in the vineyards, and sprays and other chemicals are rarely used. It is worth mentioning that in 2002, Pierre Damois underwent a complete renovation of its winemaking equipment and is now a fully equipped modern winery. The wines produced at Château Pierre Damois are Bourgogne Rouge, Chapelle-Chambertin and Pays de Bess, 75% of which are produced from the estate's Grand Cru. The quality of the grapes, combined with the meticulous winemaking techniques, have made the wines of Château Pierre Damois exceptional and popular with consumers since they were first released.
