From the Reverie Vineyard, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain spent 22 months in 100% new French oak. Cedar, crushed rock, creme de cassis, smoke, and earthy characteristics are both compelling and complex. This mountain-styled Cabernet reveals soft tannins, a supple, full-bodied mouthfeel, and an elegant yet substantial personality. It should drink nicely for 15+ years. While this is one of the most stunning wineries in Jess Jackson's portfolio, production is very limited, making the wines difficult to find. Production in 2006 ranged from 158 cases of the Diamond Mountain, to 669 cases of the Mt. Veeder (which happens to be my favorite). (15.1% alcohol) Bright red-ruby. Vinous, claret-like aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and menthol. Sweet, juicy and aromatic in the mouth, with a pliant texture for Diamond Mountain cabernet and lovely floral lift. In a rather round style, and offering considerable early appeal. Finishes with supple, building tannins and very good lingering sweetness of fruit.

Lokoya has long been one of leading wineries in the Kendall-Jackson Small Estates portfolio. Lokoya consistently produces some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons from four of Napa Valley's most renowned mountain appellations: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Diamond Mountain District, and Spring Mountain District. These single-vineyard wines, made in very limited quantities, are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with native yeast, and bottled unfined and unfiltered — resulting in the purest expression of place. They are powerful wines that reflect the intense individuality of each mountain. Sparse soils, high elevations, good drainage and the cool climates of the mountains form the backbone for these intense Cabernet Sauvignons. The Lokoya name honours the Native American tribe who lived on Mount Veeder in the western mountains of the Napa Valley prior to the arrival of viticulture in the 19th century. Paying tribute to those who farmed the Napa soils before them, Lokoya Cabernet reflects the soils and microclimates of the Napa Valley.
