The 2019 Lagrange (Pomerol) has a deep garnet-purple color and a decadently scented nose of stewed plums, baked black cherries and fruitcake plus hints of spice box, star anise, tobacco leaf and bouquet garni with a waft of chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely filled with opulent black fruits, supported by soft, approachable tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and spicy.

The 2019 Lagrange (Pomerol) offers up aromas of red berries, spices, loamy soil and cedary new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and youthfully chewy palate with a ripe core of fruit and rather rustic structuring tannins.

The 2019 Lagrange (Pomerol) is a pleasant, easygoing Pomerol to drink now and over the next handful of years. An initial burst of sweet red-toned fruit is promising, but the 2019 is a bit lacking in the mid-palate, and that seems to allow the oak to stick out. Lagrange is certainly a pleasant wine, but its charms are best enjoyed on the young side.

The 2019 Lagrange is attractive, if a bit rustic. Black cherry, chocolate, spice and licorice give this plump Pomerol a good bit of immediacy, which is what the 2019 is ultimately all about. There is not a ton of complexity, but that probably won't be too much of an issue, as Lagrange seems best suited to near-term drinking.

I’ve criticized many previous vintages of this Pomerol, but the 2019 Lagrange gives notice of improvements afoot. Now in bottle, it has a very pleasant and quite concentrated bouquet of black cherries, raspberry coulis and light truffle scents laced with blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a velvety entry and a ripe, slightly confit, spicy finish. A surprisingly plush and well-defined Lagrange that has lived up to its promise and is well worth checking out. A harbinger of things to come?

The 2019 Lagrange, the Pomerol estate, was optically and manually sorted after picking between 24 and 28 September, then aged in 30% new oak. It has a slightly fuller bouquet compared to recent vintages with brambly red fruit laced with rose petal and light orange pith scents. It is a cut above previous vintages. The palate is sweet and juicy on the entry, demonstrating a little more roundness and density than expected. Gently gripping the palate, my only criticism is that it lacks a bit of complexity on the finish. Otherwise this is a perfectly satisfying, no doubt early drinking Pomerol from J-P Moueix.

Pretty and floral with ash and dried earth. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a fresh, fine-textured finish. Try after 2025.
