Made up of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Lagrange (Pomerol) is medium garnet-purple in color and reveals notes of kirsch, warm red plums and blackberry compote with touches of garrigue, black olives and wild thyme. Medium-bodied with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and loads of freshness lifting the savory and red fruit flavors, it finishes on an earthy note.

The 2016 Lagrange (Pomerol) is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a straightforward, simple and slightly earthy bouquet, a subtle floral aspect emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with rustic, slightly coarse tannin. There is good freshness here and a good backbone, a rather "brawny" Pomerol that could work when accompanied by simple hearty dishes, yet feels a little raw on its own.

A bright and pretty wine with a walnut-shell, stone and blackberry character. Medium body, linear fruit and polished tannins. Very pretty.

Rich red fruit plus hints of smoke and wet earth give this ripe, but well-proportioned Pomerol a lot of appeal. I love the long, smooth finish that’s neatly supported by the soft tannins. Drink or hold.
