Energetic, Balances, Captivating... A Barbaresco with an exceptional balance between mature tannin and acidity, holding a strong character and solid structure. Delicate aromas of plum and ripe fruit make Starderi extremely enjoyable in youth, whilst expressing its maximum potential after a few years of bottle aging.

Good medium red. More carnal animal and truffle aromas complicated by dark spices; rather full-blown in the way of the 2006 Valeirano. The biggest of these 2007s but still quite young, even closed, today. Offers impressive depth and sweetness but I don't find as much perfume or apparent acidity as in the 2007 Valeirano. This wine has a serious tannic spine and will need time.

The 2007 Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi bursts from the glass with red berries, sweet spices, roses and mint, all of which come together on a powerful, richly structured frame that is the hallmark of Barbareschi from Neive. The Starderi is the most tannic of the estate’s 2007s but it is a wine with significant promise and a long road ahead of very fine drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. This is a beautiful set of 2007 Barbareschi from La Spinetta. With one exception the wines show the trademark open sensual quality of the vintage but with less overt oakiness than has sometimes been the case. About the Producer
One of Peidmont's iconic modern wineries, the history of La Spinetta goes back to 1977 when Giuseppe Rivetti who established the original winery at Castagnole Lanze. Since then it is the second generation, spearheaded by Giorgio Rivetti, that has put La Spinetta on the map with the development of vineyards and estates, talented winemaking and an endless desire to try new things.
