Tasting notes

The 2023 La Clarté de Haut-Brion has quite an intense and lively bouquet: Granny Smith apples, pear and light, slate-like aromas. The palate is fresh on the entry with fine depth, perhaps needing a little more tension on the mid-palate, but this feels long and tender. It will drink after just one or two years.

Aromas of smoke, white fruits and ripe orchard fruits preface the 2023 La Clarté de Haut-Brion blanc, a medium-bodied, round and supple wine that is fruity and elegant on the finish. This is a blend of 56.3% Sauvignon Blanc and 43.7% Sémillon.

The 2023 La Clarté de Haut-Brion has turned out very well, offering a floral, fresh bouquet of white fruits, pear, herbs and citron confit, subtly accented by spice. Medium- to full-bodied, round and supple, it is enveloping and juicy, built around a lively core of fruit and concluding with a long, ethereal finish. This is a gourmand and highly attractive rendition of the vintage.
About the Producer
La Clatte Haut-Brion is the new name of the old Haut-Brion plantation - this is the second white wine of Haut-Brion Boulogne and Haut-Brion Blanc, which produces about 1,000 cases per year. 2018 is mainly a Semillon based wine - 79.2% - with the rest Sauvignon Blanc. La Clarté de Haut-Brion offers aromas of citrus fruit, peach, grapefruit and pastry cream, with a full-bodied, deep and fleshy wine that is satiny and can be integrated into an ample fruit core supported by lively acidity and a chalky, sturdy structure. The second wine in the portfolio of Haut-Obrion and Haut-Obrion Cathedral, this works well in the bottle, offering a richer, more exciting wine than its 2018 predecessor.
