Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Neal Martin
There are just two and a half barrels of the 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Boucheres because of the frost this year. The nose was showing quite a bit of reduction when I tasted it from tank. The palate is much better, with a honeyed opening, hints of nutmeg and walnut infusing the light tropical tones with a tang of ginger on the finish. The reduction gets in the way a little, so hopefully this will come together in bottle. We will see.

(20 hectoliters per hectare produced): Bright yellow. Enticing aromas of lemon, lime, wild herbs and spices, plus a whiff of reduction. Juicy and tight, showing a light touch and a very fine-grained texture to its cooler flavors of citrus fruits, white flowers and mint. Mounts slowly on the long, lively finish.
