Tasting notes

Bright, dark red-ruby. Superripe, complex aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice complicated by subtle soil tones. Sweeter and creamier than the cuvée classique and much more approachable today owing to its sheer sucrosité and depth. This beautifully balanced wine's thick, concentrated fruit covers its substantial building tannins on the very long, slowly mounting finish.

Dark red with ruby tones. Penetrating aromas and flavors of black cherry and minerals. Wonderfully creamy and deep but with a compelling juiciness to leaven its velvety sweetness. Utterly mouthcoating thickness here as well as outstanding spicy depth and impeccable balance. Finishes with powerful tannins and great persistence. And bone-dry in spite of its strong impression of sucrosité. This will age for a long time. Labet described this wine as like drinking through a funnel: we feel the pressure but it's coming through a small hole.
