The 2018 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru comes from Bouchard’s 3-hectare, clayey monopole that apparently never suffers drought. It has a high-toned bouquet of blueberry and cassis aromas, forward and generous if not incredibly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and quite voluminous in the mouth. The saline, <em>hoisin</em>-tinged finish just requires a little more delineation.

The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse has turned out beautifully, delivering a generous nose of plums, wild berries, orange rind and spices. Medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy, it's generous and gourmand, with an enveloping core of fruit, powdery tannins and an expansive finish. This will offer a broad drinking window.

Tight and tannic with linear sensibility. Rich yet compact structure. Dark fruit with ripe strawberries and dark chocolate that carry on for minutes on the finish. Drink after 2022.
