The 2014 Blason de l'Evangile has copious black cherry and blueberry fruit on the nose, again, just that hint of incense. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, smooth and quite sensual with a keen line of acidity and good structure on the finish. You know, I actually prefer this to its second label stablemate Carruades de Lafite this year and it comes recommended.

The Blason de l'Evangile 2014 is pure 100% Merlot, some parts coming from the Rothschilds acquisition of La Croix de Gay. There is great purity on the nose here, not complex, but with pretty blueberry and raspberry scents, just a touch of incense developing with time. The palate is velvety smooth, a little toasty on the entry with finely judged acidity, hints of sweet coconut infusing the dark cherry fruit on the finish. This is a well-crafted deuxième vin.

The 2014 Blason de L'Évangile is soft, juicy and giving, which is to say, everything a second wine should be. Plum, blackberry jam, smoke, chocolate and a dollop of new oak flesh out in an attractive, open-knit Pomerol to drink now and over the next few years.

A juicy and chewy young Bordeaux with chocolate, berry and walnut character. Medium to full body and polished tannins. Needs three to four years to soften. Second wine of L’Evangile.
About the Producer
The Blason de L'Evangile, chosen from vats with the same bases as the great wine, presents characteristics close to the great wine with, however, a lesser aging potential since its aging in barrels is shorter. It should be drunk younger than its elder.
