The 2021 Chardonnay La Combe Verte opens from matchstick to intense peach perfume and nuances of beeswax, almonds and acacia. The medium-bodied palate explodes with layer after layer of powerful fruit, delivered in a luxuriously silky texture and tempered by focused acidity. The Combe Verte offers fantastic length, concentration and energy!
About the Producer
Walter Scott Wines, founded by Erica Landon and Ken Pahlow in 2008, is a winery producer located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The name "Walter Scott" holds special meaning as it pays tribute to two influential figures in Ken's life. His grandfather, Walter, was a spirited and adventurous individual who taught Ken the power of determination and achievement. Scott, Ken's nephew, lived fearlessly and his premature departure reminded Ken of the importance of seizing opportunities and pursuing aspirations. In their pursuit of a dream, Erica and Ken emptied their retirement accounts in 2008 to establish Walter Scott Wines. Over the years, they shifted production locations and collaborated with renowned individuals in the industry, such as Dominique Lafon. Their portfolio expanded to include Chardonnay, contributing to their growing success and dedicated following. In 2012, they secured their current winery space at Justice Vineyard, with the support of friends like Su and Andy Stanton. The addition of Jess Pierce to the team further strengthened Walter Scott Wines, as they continued to excel in all aspects of production and sales.
