Tasting notes

Reviewed by: William Kelley
One of the finest wines in the cellar is the 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, a striking white that wafts from the glass with aromas of waxy citrus rind, lemon oil, blanched almonds, dried white flowers and hints of smoke. On the palate, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and tensile, with searing levels of concentration, brisk acids and a long, mineral finish. This is a classic Chevalier that's well worth seeking out.

The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with scents of citrus oil, toasted nuts, white flowers and nutmeg. Full-bodied, multidimensional and layered, this is chiseled and racy, finer-boned than the Bâtard and just as penetrating, though seemingly just a touch less deep and profound. That's splitting hairs, as both are playing at a very high level this year.
