The 2022 Chardonnay hails from Traigen, Malleco, and was aged for up to 4 months on its lees. Yellow with a greenish sheen. The pear and apple nose contains hints of hazelnut, ginger and lime. A balanced wine, the vibrant, taut mouthfeel is rich and refreshing with mild concentration. A classical Chard from an unclassical region.
About the Producer
Viña Aquitania, founded in 1990 by Bruno Prats and Paul Pontallier, is a prominent Chilean wine producer located in the Maipo Valley near Santiago. The winery began with the acquisition of 18 hectares in Peñalolen, and the first Cabernet Sauvignon plantings were established shortly after. The cellar was completed in 1993, and in 2002, Ghislain de Montgolfier joined as a partner, referring to himself as the "fourth musketeer." The flagship wine is Lazuli Cabernet Sauvignon, which undergoes a six-day pre-fermentative maceration before fermentation and ages for 16 months in oak barrels. Previously, the flagship was known as Paul Bruno Cabernet Sauvignon until it was re-released in a limited edition alongside Lazuli. Viña Aquitania also offers a premium SOLdeSOL range, featuring varietals like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir, showcasing the winery’s dedication to quality and innovation in Chilean winemaking.
