About the Producer

Villa Bucci's history dates back to and still remains within the Bucci family. The story began in the 18th century when the family acquired ownership of an estate near the town of Montecarotto in the Castelli di Jesi wine region. However, the winery's entrepreneurial journey started in 1982 with Ampelio Bucci, who began producing exceptional and high-quality Verdicchio wines. The Bucci family began bottling their wines in 1983, and since then, both the family and their vineyard, Villa Bucci, have become one of Italy's most renowned wineries. In addition, the estate features centuries-old olive groves known as Carbonella. The winery has six distinct and unique vineyards, with five dedicated to Verdicchio cultivation and harvesting. The remaining land is used for cultivating grape varieties like Sangiovese and Montepulciano. The vineyards of Villa Bucci are planted in clay and limestone soils, ensuring the vines have access to adequate water reserves. The clay retains water on the surface, forcing the roots to dig deep in search of available water. This reduces the need for irrigation and the risk of drought. Additionally, vineyard workers use tillage techniques to loosen the soil and improve its aeration. This promotes better water uptake, deep root penetration, and overall grape quality. Villa Bucci has long embraced an organic style and methods for grape cultivation and winemaking. This includes practices such as green harvesting and densely planted vineyards.
