Van Volxem is a renowned winery located in the Saar region of Germany. The vineyards in Saar are relatively small in scale and primarily limited to south-facing slate slopes. Arno Luik, a researcher from the University of Strasbourg, described this unusual condition on the slopes of Van Volxem as a "climate boundary region where heaven and hell are closely connected." As a result, Van Volxem wines exhibit mature fruit aromas, moderate alcohol content, and captivating elegance and finesse. Around 1900, Saar wines, including those from Van Volxem, enjoyed great prestige and were considered among the ideal wines for internationally renowned restaurants. The prices of Saar wines, including Van Volxem's wines, sometimes exceeded those of wines produced by the most famous estates in the world today. The study of historical vineyard maps and documents has aided in rediscovering and reviving some of the most valuable sites in the Saar region from the very beginning.
