Description

Oreno was first created in 1999 by Dr. Antonio Moretti Cuseri, an avid winelover, who, during his frequent travels, was impressed by the elegance and finesse of Bordeaux grapes, so much so, that he decided to plant the varieties at his own estate. He grafted established vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, which adapt extremely well to the terroirs of Tuscany. The name Oreno comes from a stream that crosses the estate, precisely in an area rich in clay, where our Merlot vines grow. Our Cabernet grapes are planted to soils more suited to them, in vineyards that have a greater presence of pebbles, which ensure excellent drainage and self-regulate based on temperature and humidity. The perfect complement to the blend is Petit Verdot, traditionally used to add spicy notes and a more intense flavor. While the wine is inspired by Bordeaux blends, it has a strong Tuscan soul.

The 2011 Oreno wraps around the palate with gorgeous resonance and silkiness. Mocha, cloves, leather and dark spices all add nuance to a core of voluptuous, racy fruit. This is a typical 2011 long on texture, resonance and early appeal. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off the 2011, as it is already striking. The style is ripe, intense and full-bodied, yet all the elements fall into place effortlessly.

The 2011 Oreno (Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon-Petit Verdot) shows initial ripeness with aromas of prune, dark plum and blackberry preserves. The effect is soft, rich and enduring. Chocolate and dark spice fill in the rear. This wine will appeal to those who appreciate the round and plump side of Italian reds. It is a fruit forward expression with big concentration and extraction that is further defined by the spicy oak tones that appear throughout.

There is a purity of fruit in this young Tuscan red with flowers, citrus fruit and currants. Full body, with firm and silky tannins that are ultra-fine and wonderfully polished. The structure builds to a racy finish. This is a Bordeaux blend that is all in harmony. Give it time as the tannins and fruit melt together. Try in 2016.

About the Producer

Tenuta Sette Ponti is located in the Chianti region of Tuscany, Italy, and is one of the wineries that produces high-quality Super Tuscans in the region. In the 1950s, architect Alberto Moretti purchased 60 hectares of land from Italian princesses Margherita and Maria Cristina Savoia d'Aosta and built Today's Seven Bridges Winery. The winery is located in the Valdarno valley in the heart of Tuscany, between the cities of Arezzo and Florence. There are seven bridges across the Arno River, hence the name "Seven Bridges". The most famous of these, the Buriano bridge, is on the side of the Seven Bridges Winery, a 13th-century bridge that can be found in Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting "Mona Lisa". In 1996, Alberto Moretti's son, Italian luxury goods entrepreneur Antonio Moretti, took over. In 2004, Antonio Moretti bought Orma. Seven Bridges vineyards are located at an altitude of 200 to 300 meters and have a planting area of 54 hectares. The grape varieties grown in the garden include Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (Cabernet Franc), and a small amount of Trebbiano. The local climate type is Mediterranean with mild winters and hot and dry summers. The soil types of the vineyards are mainly clay, calcareous and the region-specific Galestro marl. The planting density of vines is high, with 6,666 trees per hectare, and the grapes produced are extremely high-quality. The winery employs excellent viticulturalists, winemakers and agronomists to ensure that the wines are produced with excellent quality. Seven Bridges Winery has a wide range of wines, the main wines include Oreno Toscana IGT, Vigna dell'Impero, Crognolo Toscana IGT and Polino. Wine (Vigna di Pallino). Among them, the flagship red wine of Aureau has received more than 90 points of praise from authoritative scoring agencies such as Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate.
