The Argentiera 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera is not as profound or long as we've seen in recent past vintages, yet this remains a proud and careful hot-vintage expression of 48% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. The fruit intensity starts off with a bang, and the wine revs high into sixth gear for the first few moments. However, the experience is just a bit shorter overall. You might want to give it more time in bottle. This is an 80,000-bottle release.

Rich aromas of currants and plums with chocolate and walnut undertones. Full-bodied and chewy with layers of tannins. It’s a big wine and very juicy with a polished and long finish. Needs five to six years to soften. Best after 2027.
About the Producer
The cellars are ideally located in the Bolgheri landscape, with a plateau of natural elegance, above the estate at 200 meters above sea level. The design of the building follows the typical architecture of the region, and the architectural style complements the surrounding beauty while having all the characteristics of an avant-garde winery. The building's exterior walls are thick and sloped to promote natural temperature regulation. On the ground floor, a large open space is used for welcoming guests and wine tasting, and has a large air-conditioned room for receiving hand-picked grapes, which are carefully selected and destemmed. The wine is processed in the subterranean level, where natural thermal conditions can be optimized: during harvest, the grapes fall from the upper level due to gravity and begin the fermentation process, through pressing and in remontage and fortified recirculation (remontage) in modern steel tanks at constant temperature ( délestage), regulated by a complex computer system that controls the flow of heat and cold. At the heart of the structure is the age-old wine cellar: grand arches accentuate the lines of the ceiling, and 1200 French oak barrels line up silently, awaiting the final stages of fine winemaking, at an optimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. From the large terrace on the second floor you can admire the magnificence of the Bolgheri district - vineyards, dunes and sea - from Castiglioncello to the bay of Baratti and on a clear day you can even see Earl on the horizon Elba and Corsica.
