The 2025 Bandol Rosé is emblematic of the vintage character in Bandol. Tense, inward and a touch compact, it takes its time in the glass, slowly revealing layers of grapefruit peel, white flowers, crushed oyster shell and river rocks. The 2025 is attractively forward aromatically, but the palate is a touch understated today, with apricot fruit pushed to the background and terroir complexity in the foreground. Not as phenolic or structured as some of its Bandol stablemates, the 2025 is on the delicate side for this address.

Another success at this address, the 2025 Bandol Rosé is superb, revealing aromas of ripe orchard fruits, guava, red berries, flowers and confit citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, it possesses notable depth at the core, framed by racy acidity that brings both energy and definition. The finish is long and gently ethereal.
About the Producer
Domaine Tempier now has 30 hectares of vineyards, 25 in ownership and 5 in rents, spread on 3 villages and different terroirs. There was nothing then of the selfconsciousness and certainty that Bandol wines have acquired since. The reason was that with a near-extinct Mourvèdre, the wines could'nt have this deep-fruit, velvet-structure that could be tasted in very old millesimes. And convincing everyone in the Appellation to implement the long-vinification rules and proceed to the arduous replanting of the Mourvèdre and other varieties was an uphill battle with results to come only many years later...
