Located seven miles north of the town of Napa, in a micro-valley within Napa Valley, lies the century-old 240-acre estate known as Stags' Leap. This picturesque site is renowned for its natural beauty, storied buildings, lush gardens, and a reputation for producing elegant wines. Established in 1893 and recently restored to preserve its historical charm, Stags' Leap Winery continues a proud winemaking heritage in the prestigious appellation that carries its name. Framed by dramatic palisades to the east, the estate features 90 acres of vineyards, divided into 23 blocks that align each grape variety with its ideal soil type. Stags' Leap is particularly celebrated for its iconic Ne Cede Malis Petit Sirah, produced from a traditional field blend with vines dating back to 1929, making it the estate's oldest vineyard and containing a mix of at least 16 other varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon is also synonymous with the Stags Leap District and has always been a cornerstone of Stags' Leap Winery's winemaking program. As one of California's earliest wine estates, its unique terroir, ideal microclimate, and commitment to stewardship support a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that remains relevant more than a century later. Under the guidance of Winemaker Ludovic Dervin, the dedication to the estate's terroir is evident in the application of traditional winemaking techniques. The wines produced here reflect the story of the land, expressing the unique characteristics and complexity that define Stags' Leap.
