About the Producer
Domaine Sautereau, located in Crézancy-en-Sancerre in the southern part of the Sancerre appellation, spans around twenty hectares of diverse vineyard plots across Crézancy-en-Sancerre, Bué, and Sancerre. The estate primarily cultivates Sauvignon Blanc for white Sancerres, with Pinot Noir used for red and rosé wines. The Sancerre region, known for its rich geological history, features a variety of terroirs, including clay-limestone “Terres Blanches,” marls, rocky limestone “Caillottes,” and iron-rich “Terres Rouges,” each contributing unique characteristics to the wines. Led by David Sautereau since 1997, the family estate has a winemaking heritage dating back to 1683, emphasizing a commitment to revealing the true essence of their terroir. The winery employs sustainable practices and is pursuing organic certification, aiming to produce wines that showcase elegance, vibrant acidity, and complexity. Sautereau wines are celebrated for their direct profiles and distinct minerality, appealing to both casual drinkers and connoisseurs.
