About the Producer

Koerner and Joan Rombauer, who had a strong understanding of the connection between food and wine, founded Rombauer Vineyards in 1980. Koerner's great aunt, Irma Rombauer, authored the famous cookbook "The Joy of Cooking," and his German ancestors had a history in the wine-growing region of Rheingau. The winery gained recognition for its fruit-driven expressions of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, which were first released in 1984. Rombauer Vineyards takes a holistic approach to winemaking, emphasizing the importance of the land and community in the process. They strive to be responsible stewards of their vineyards and employ sustainable practices to protect the land for future generations. The vineyards are meticulously managed using advanced technologies like NDVI aerial photos and hands-on attention, allowing for detailed decision-making on a vine-by-vine basis regarding varietal selection, rootstock, pruning, canopy management, irrigation, and harvest. This commitment to careful vineyard management is seen as essential in producing wines of the highest quality and character.
