About the Producer
Romain Hénin is a popular champagne maker who has been gaining popularity recently. He studied at the wineschool of Avize and trained at Henri Giraud before starting his own champagne production in 2016. In 2021, he took over the family estate in Ay, Vallée de la Marne, from his father Pascal Hénin. Romain's main focus is to revive and improve the health of the soils in his vineyards. He even experimented by burying his boxer shorts in the ground to observe the activity of microorganisms. Romain Henin obtained his BTS viti-oeno in 2011 and started his own organic and biodynamic vineyard. Despite facing challenges like mildew and frost in the early years, he remained committed to producing wines without added inputs or sulphites. He gradually expanded the organic farming and biodynamic practices to the entire family estate, with the goal of cultivating the entire estate in an organic and biodynamic manner. He also ventured into agroforestry. Today, Romain Henin's champagnes are highly sought after by a younger generation of Champagne winegrowers who are challenging traditional practices. It is expected that Romain and his brother Thomas will continue to impress and delight wine enthusiasts with their vintages in the future.
