The Renato Corino 2016 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata shows a soft and slow approach with a silky textural fiber that glides seamlessly over the palate. That effortless lightless is the defining characteristic of this pretty La Morra Barolo made with fruit from 50-year-old vines. Red and blue fruits can be found at the core, and there is pretty spice and tar as well. This wine is accessible even at this early stage, suggesting a drinking window of 10-15 years. A mere 3,500 bottles were made.

Aromas of dried flowers, strawberries and cherries with some crushed stones. It’s full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins that are polished and beautiful. Shows the excellence of the vintage. Better after 2023.

Rich, heady and exotic in its beauty, Corino's 2016 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a total stunner. In the glass, the 2016 Rocche is seamless and silky, with striking textural richness and persistence. Super-ripe red cherry, red plum, rose petal, mint and kirsch infuse the 2016 with layers of nuance. All the elements meld together in a rich, sumptuous Barolo that captures the essence of this great La Morra cru.

About the Producer

The Story of Renato Corino Estate In 2005, after 20 years of working together, the Corino brothers decided to split their father’s estate. That year marked the beginning of the Azienda Agricola Renato Corino, a new winery situated in the heart of the Arborina cru vineyard of Barolo. Driven by passion and enthusiasm, Renato dedicates himself to his land and wine making tradition. The management of the winery and vineyards is completely in the hands of Renato, supported by his children, Stefano and Chiara. Renato Corino maintains holdings in the following cru in the La Morra commune of Barolo: Arborina, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Conca and Roncaglie. The four Barolos produced by the winery are Barolo del Comune di La Morra, Barolo Arborina, and Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata. The last, Barolo Riserva is comprised of a special selection of 50 year old Nebbiolo vines from the Rocche vineyard. Other wines produced include Dolcetto d’Alba, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, and Barbera Pozzo. The prized vineyard called Pozzo, planted in the 1950’s, is also located in the La Morra commune. Renato Corino owns eight hectares of vineyards and produces approximately 50,000 bottles per year.
