Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Stephan Reinhardt
Picked in perfect healthy condition, the 2015 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese is clear, intense and aromatic on the nose, with delicate flinty aromas. Round, lush and aromatic, with a stimulating piquancy and freshness, this is a pretty digestible Spätlese that is still rich but with more grip and tension than in former years.
About the Producer
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt winery has a history of over 675 years, rooted in the Kesselstatt knightly dynasty of the 14th century. Located in the scenic Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer valleys, the estate covers 46 hectares of exceptional terroir, focusing on unique Riesling wines. Meticulous hand-harvesting and careful grape processing take place in modern cellars built in 2016, allowing for natural fermentation in stainless steel. This method highlights the individuality of each vineyard site, with Grosse Gewächse aged in traditional oak casks to enhance complexity. Dedicated to sustainability, the winery preserves old vineyards and traditional varietal clones, resulting in elegant, minerally dry Rieslings that honor its rich heritage while reflecting the distinctive characteristics of its historic vineyards.
