The 2018 Chardonnay X Novo Vineyard opens with gunflint and roasted almonds with golden apples, spices and cured meats. The palate is light-bodied, delicately styled and savory without losing the intensity of flinty, nutty flavors, and it finishes long and lifted.

The 2019 Chardonnay X Novo Vineyard comes from vines planted in 2010 from a multitude of different clones. It has a tangy character, with scents of lemon peel, Greek yogurt and roasted almonds and wafts of perfumed orchard fruits. The palate is all tang, mineral and citrus, energetic and very pure, with honeyed fruits lingering long after the wine is gone. Wow!

The 2021 Chardonnay X Novo Vineyard takes some time to give way from matchstick aromas to deeper tones of baked apples and quince, honey and brioche. The light-bodied palate is tense and citrusy with a grippy texture and a long, flinty finish. This wine really opened up a few days after popping the cork, so give it plenty of time in the bottle to unwind.

The 2022 Chardonnay X Novo Vineyard comes from vines planted in 2011 in volcanic soils. It fermented and matured in 80% new, 350- and 500-liter barrels for 12 months and finished with three months in stainless steel. It releases wafts of matchstick, cinnamon and spice before revealing a core of apple pie. The light-bodied palate is taut and shimmery with full, spicy flavors and a long, spicy finish. It deserves 3–5 years to harmonize in bottle. 425 cases were made.
