The 2018 Adrestia Semillon Sauvignon Blanc hails from the Adelaide Hills and was barrel fermented and aged in French oak. There's a quiet veneer of pencil shavings on the nose, which adds a sense of refinement to the quince and grapefruit notes. The wine is medium-bodied in the mouth and slightly creamy in texture, with vanilla swirled effortlessly in with an array of ripe citrus flavors and even a hint of nectarine, and there's a dose of cedar on the long, mouthwatering finish.

A barrel-fermented blend of 85% Sémillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2016 Adrestia Semillon Sauvignon Blanc features a substantial overlay of toasty oak and vanilla. It's a plump, slightly creamy-textured wine loaded with citrus flavor, vibrant and energetic, with an extended finish. Depending on how aged you like your white wines, you could drink it now or five years from now.

While the 2016 Adrestia included a decent proportion of Sauvignon Blanc, the 2017 Adrestia Semillon has dropped SB from the label. It's light to medium-bodied, with lime and lemon notes in the lead and perhaps just a bit of fig rounding things out. Barrel-fermented and aged, hints of pencil shavings are perceptible, but no overt lashings of vanilla, and the wine itself is quite tight and linear in style. I'd opt to consume it on the young side, although I suspect it will age beautifully, as so many Semillons do.
