Entirely devoted to Sauvignon Blanc, the 2022 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc offers up aromas of pear, peach and lime. Medium to full-bodied, juicy and sappy, it’s succulent with a minty citrus finish.

Notes of waxy lemon rind, crisp green apple, grapefruit and white flowers introduce the 2021 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc, a medium-bodied, satiny and incisive wine that's saline and penetrating, displaying excellent cut and concentration.

Bursting with aromas of minty nectarine, white flowers and grapefruit, the 2020 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, with an ample mid-palate that's girdled by bright balancing acids. As usual, it's entirely Sauvignon Blanc.

Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc aging in 50% new oak, the 2020 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc features notions of lime cordial, fresh grapefruit and Granny Smith apples on the nose, with suggestions of straw and elderflower. The medium-bodied palate is packed with zippy citrus and green apple flavors, supported by a racy backbone, finishing with a zingy lift.

The 2019 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc begins a little closed on the nose, soon unfurling to reveal fragrant scents of lime blossoms, lemongrass and shaved ginger with a core of yuzu, fresh apple slices and kumquat plus a waft of dill seed. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with zip and zing, offering a racy acid backbone and a seriously minerally finish.

The 2019 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc offers up aromas of lemongrass, herbs, citrus zest and light reduction, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and vibrant palate that's taut and racy, reflecting its 100% Sauvignon Blanc identity.

Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc matured in 50% new oak, the 2018 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc leaps from the glass with vivacious notions of fresh lime juice, Granny Smith apples and fresh pears plus wafts of white peaches, coriander seed and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate delivers bags of apple and pear flavors with a racy line and a citrusy lift on the finish.

Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc aging in 50% new oak, the 2018 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc displays pear drops, lemongrass, fresh pineapple and lime juice notes with touches of crushed stones, wet slate and mandarin peel. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with mouthwatering tropical fruit plus a pleasantly oily texture and a racy backbone, finishing with great length and vibrancy.

The 2015 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc, which is pure Sauvignon Blanc, has a crisp gooseberry and wet stone-scented bouquet, traces of grilled walnut and smoke emerge with aeration but remain discrete. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, lightly spiced on the entry with a citrus, mineral finish that offers a distant tang of the sea. I like the energy and the focus of this wine. Excellent.

The Les Hauts de Smith Blanc 2014 is pure Sauvignon Blanc matured in 50% new oak. It has an exquisite bouquet that really exploits the gravel over clay soils (on the lower part of the Smith Haut Lafitte.) There is fine mineralité here. The palate is citrus fresh on the entry with a sharp line of acidity. There is a light oyster shell influence, almost as if a drop of top-notch Muscadet had sauntered into the blending vat, and I mean that in a positive way. There is plenty of character here–another superb white wine from the estate.

Tasted from a barrel sample at en primeur. The Les Haut de Smith Blanc, pure Sauvignon Blanc, has a delicate nose with slight Muscat hints – touches of rosewater and orange blossom – very pretty. The palate has a leesy texture on the entry. There is a twist of sour lemon on the mid-palate with lifted acidity on the bright finish with attractive apricot and mango notes lingering on the aftertaste. Tasted April 2013.

Medium-bodied and crisp, with fig and citrus notes, the second wine of Smith Haut Lafitte, the 2012 Les Hauts de Smith, shows quite well. It doesn’t have the body or richness its sibling, but it is well-made and merits interest. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

The 2021 Les Haut de Smith Blanc, crafted entirely with Sauvignon Blanc and matured in 50% new oak barrels, reveals an elegant, fruity bouquet with aromas of pear, peach and citron oil. Medium to full-bodied, fresh and delicate, it’s a gourmand wine with a fresh, citrusy finish.

A 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2023 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc evokes aromas of white fruits, white flowers, citrus and verbena, followed by a medium-bodied, round and satiny palate with a juicy mid-palate and an ethereal, saline and mouthwatering finish.

Pure Sauvignon Blanc made from the young vines at Smith Haut Lafitte, the 2015 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc has a tensile, oyster shell tinged bouquet with yellow flowers and pink grapefruit developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced, tensile with a keen thread of acidity: plenty of citrus lemon, lime and tinned apricot leading to a smooth and refined finish. It just misses a little length, but you won't mind because you'll already be taking the next sip. What a gem of a white Pessac-Léognan—don't overlook this.

The 2016 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc is pure Sauvignon Blanc matured in around 50% new oak. It has a pleasant bouquet with yellow flower aromas complementing the citrus fruit, though it takes a little more encouragement than the Le Petit Haut Lafitte, which has the benefit of the Sémillon. The palate is well balanced with some lovely tropical tones on the entry, dried pineapple, paw paw and then later a touch of lemongrass. I appreciate the way this finishes... with a bit of gusto! I always love this white Pessac-Léognan and this 2016 might be as good as the 2015 last year. This comes recommended.

The 2017 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and offers up intense notions of lemon curd, white peaches and grapefruit with touches of mandarin peel, jasmine and lime zest. The palate is medium-bodied and incredibly elegant yet super zippy in the mouth, with a lively line cutting through the intense citrus flavors, finishing long and zesty.
