The 2012 Vintage is bold, open-knit and very easy to like. Brioche, pastry, vanillin and warm, toasty notes all run through this rich, boisterous Champagne from Piper-Hiedsieck. Deep and racy, with good depth, the 2012 is a good choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years.

Unfurling in the glass with incipiently complex aromas of citrus oil, wheat toast, fresh peach and crisp orchard fruit, the newly released 2012 Vintage Brut is full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with excellent concentration, racy acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a long and penetrating finish. Even though it's still a little reserved after its recent disgorgement,

Piper's 2006 Vintage Brut – 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir from 17 Premier and Grand Cru villages – opens with a very clear, intense and elegant nose of white fruit aromas. There are also aromas of brittle and chalk, indicating remarkable finesse and freshness. Full-flavored, silky textured and very elegant, this is a finesse-full and perfectly balanced cuvée, with nougat flavors and an intense, concentrated finish that reveals a stunning mineral backbone. Still pretty young, but of great elegance and finesse.

Much as I wrote last year, the 2014 Brut Vintage opens in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, lemon oil and light reduction. Medium to full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with racy acids and chalky grip, it continues to display a pinpoint mousse and concludes with a long, dry finish. As it unwinds with time in the cellar, it's revealing more potential.

Medium to full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with racy acids and chalky grip, it displays a pinpoint mousse and concludes with a long, dry finish. Bottled under Diam Mytik, it's a taut, structured wine that merits a bit of time in the cellar to show what exactly it's capable of.

The 2000 Brut is round and generous in its candied apricots, honey and roasted nuts. The wine offers good length but not as much complexity or personality as I had hoped. The 2000 Brut is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. This bottle was disgorged in 2007.

(L070260 11923 on foil) Bright yellow. Leesy orchard fruit and tangerine aromas are brightened by zesty minerality and a kiss of pungent white flowers. Deep and powerfully concentrated, offering ripe pear and peach flavors along with exotic baking spices. Finishes creamy and long, echoing the smoky lees quality. This shows very good depth and strength.

The 2014 Brut Vintage, a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay with a dosage of seven grams per liter, has turned out nicely with aromas of pear, peach, almonds and smoky hints. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fruity with a delicate mousse, this is a structured, tension-filled but airborne Champagne with high acidity, the sign of a cool weather vintage. Although already thoroughly enjoyable, it should age well over the next five years.

Aromas of red berries, spices, herbs and pear introduce the 2018 Brut Vintage from Piper-Heidsieck, a moderately weighted, tense and delicate Champagne with a well-balanced mousse and a mouthwatering, delicate finish. This is a classic, fresh and refined Champagne.

The 2008 Vintage Brut offers a clear and toasty aroma on the nose. Pure, fresh, lean and delicate but complex and mineral on the palate, this is a lithe and elegant, very finessed and persistent 2008 with grip and expression. This is a complex, intense yet light and very elegant Champagne with a pure, mineral-structured and persistent finish.
