The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Forets comes from 62-year-old vines and is aged for nine months in oak barrels. It has a delightful bouquet, with white flower scents complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity fresh from the start, with pineapple and guava notes toward the finish and a little toffee on the aftertaste. Drink it now and for the next four or five years. Good, but I prefer some of the other crus from Pinson this vintage.

Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Forêts from Pinson has quite an extravagant bouquet with scents of guava and passion fruit, although it manages to retain the essence of Chablis with slate-like aromas underneath. The palate is fresh on the entry with very fine balance, well-judged acidity, harmonious and tensile with just a touch of mandarin on the exit. This is a very well-crafted Chablis that appeared to keep on improving in the glass. Bon vin/Bon Chablis.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Forets was missing some vigor on the nose compared to its peers, a little muffled and directionless. The palate is better with a pleasant twist of bitter lemon on the entry, moderate weight in the mouth, a dab of spiciness towards the finish that just needs more detail to come through, although there is a pleasing salinity that lingers on the aftertaste. Tasted May 2016.

Gently reductive aromas of citrus oil and freshly baked bread introduce the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru La Forêt, a medium to full-bodied, satiny but incisive wine with tangy acids and a discreetly saline finish.

Good restrained fruit here framed in subtly toasted spices. This has a neat chiseled shape with long fresh flavors of lime and grapefruit and plenty of acidity. Drink or hold.

A beautifully fresh, floral nose with hints of chalk and yellow citrus fruit, too. The palate has attractively pithy aromas with a fresh core of lemon and just-ripe peach. Very composed. Drink or hold.
