Disgorged in May 2018 with eight grams per liter dosage, Palmer's newly released 2012 Brut Vintage is showing very well indeed, offering up a deep bouquet of peach, yellow orchard fruit, buttered toast and iodine. Full-bodied, fleshy and vinous, it's a rich and muscular wine, reflecting the concentrated vintage, with racy acids and a classy pinpoint mousse.

Palmer's 2012 Brut Vintage continues to show beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, buttered toast, smoke and crisp green orchard fruit. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a tightly wound core, tangy acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it's long and penetrating, concluding with a chalky finish. This is evolving very gracefully and will be even better with more time in the cellar: it's one of the finest vintage releases I've tasted from this address.

I was a little severe with the 2009 Brut Vintage when I tasted it earlier this year, as the bottle in question had been very recently disgorged—something it's unfortunately hard to decipher from Palmer's labels. Offering up aromas of yellow orchard fruit, toast and ripe citrus, it's medium to full-bodied, taut but fleshy, with chalky structure and lively acids.

The 2009 Brut Vintage offers up notions of lemon oil, warm biscuits and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with bright acids, a frothy mousse and moderately intense flavors, the dosage showing a little on the finish. While this will likely take on decent complexity with more time on cork, it's ambitiously priced for the quality.
