The 2013 Blanc de Blancs offers up a delicate bouquet of confectioners sugar, honey and crisp yellow orchard fruit, complemented by subtly reductive hints of shrimp shell and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, racy and precise, it's fine-boned but penetrating. The 2013 is a charming, comparatively immediate Blanc de Blancs from Nyetimber.

The 2010 Blanc de Blancs spent five years on the fine lees with just 4% matured in oak. It has a very elegant bouquet with hints of praline and freshly sliced cornice pear, all with fine delineation. The palate is fresh on the entry with keen sense of direction. I admire the energy here, although I feel it needed to convey more complexity and attack towards the finish. Not bad, although not the best Blanc de Blancs that I have tasted during my rounds.

Aromas of white flowers, citrus oil, ripe nectarine and iodine introduce the 2010 Blanc de Blancs, a medium-bodied, fine-boned wine that's delicate and precise but somewhat ephemeral. It was disgorged in September 2016 with 10 grams per liter dosage.

The 1996 Blanc de Blancs from Nyetimber was actually served from magnum at a dinner with friends but it was so good and now so difficult to find that I felt compelled to include it here. There is still a light mousse after 20-odd years and its pale color belied its age. The nose is generous and soft with scents of brioche, hazelnuts and just a touch of marzipan, although it has retained fine delineation. The palate is well balanced and fresh, moderate weight in the mouth with a linear, quite malic, cooking apple finish mixed with a citrus peel note that lends tension. This was certainly a very pleasant surprise and I thank my surgeon friend for serving it.
