The 2018 Leeu Passant Stellenbosch Chardonnay is instantly impressive with seductive oak tones that sway with just-ripe Meyer lemon aromas, yellow apple and popcorn kernel. Medium-bodied, the Chardonnay explodes on the palate with bright, energetic acidity followed by flavors of lemon pastry cream, buttered popcorn and candied citrus. The wine continues to unfold for more than a minute before concluding with a long, persistent finish that is sure to deliver pleasure for years to come. Give it a try; it's delightful!

Rating: 94 –94

Instantly impressive in the glass, the 2017 Leeu Passant Stellenbosch Chardonnay starts with aromas of ripe, round and fresh citrus and orchard fruit, compounded by elegant oak spices and seductive notions of a graham cracker crust, popcorn kernel, citrus blossom and lemon pastry cream. Medium-bodied, the palate is impeccably balanced, with succulent acidity, a round mouthfeel and silky mid-palate. As the wine sits on the palate, flavors of white peach, underripe pineapple, Marcona almonds and poached yellow apples over cardamom madeleines unfold in the mouth. The wine grows and reveals layers of complexity over the long, lingering finish. Bravo! They have captured beauty and finesse in this bottle.

Rating: 95 –95

The 2020 Leeu Passant Stellenbosch Chardonnay is more generous and shows more ripeness than the previous vintage, with a touch more approachability and youth, as it encapsulates a broader-shouldered expression. Medium to full-bodied, the wine explodes on the palate with flavors of lemon pastry cream, popcorn kernel and sweet citrus and a lingering nutty and creamy sensation across the mid-palate. The wine glides to a gracefully long finish that persists with flavors of peach yogurt. Bravo!
