Critic ratings

vinous 2020

Rating: 92 –94

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has more mineralité and tension compared to the Les Referts, fresh and focused, displaying a sense of energy. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and spicier than the Les Referts with more weight on the finish. This has great length and I foresee this ageing with style.

Rating: 88 –90

The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru works much better on the nose compared to the Les Referts, despite a hefty reduction. The palate is quite concentrated with bruised apple and pear notes and modest depth, though it does pull up a tad short on the finish.

Some almost slate-like, stony mineral accents with bright and ripe lemons and young peaches. The palate has an elegant and smooth, creamy edge with a very fresh, fine and direct finish. Peach and lemon-curd flavors here. Quite juicy. Drink or hold.
