Critic ratings

vinous 2011

Rating: 90 –90

The 2011 Brut Blanc de Blancs is an unqualified success for the vintage, as it does not show any of the awkward green or vegetal notes that are found in so many wines. Medium in body and a touch lither, the 2011 offers lovely Chardonnay expression from a collection of parcels at both ends of Avize. Hints of lemon peel, white flowers and tropical fruit grace the pretty, understated finish. The first signs of aromatic maturity are starting to set in, so I would not push my luck on extended cellaring.

vinous 2013

Rating: 93 –93

Roederer’s 2013 Blanc de Blancs is fabulous. A blend taken from the extreme north and south portions of Avize, the 2013 races out of the glass with stunning Chardonnay purity and finesse. Light on its feet, brilliant and full of energy, the 2013 is off the charts gorgeous. Lemon confit, mint and white flowers are some of the nuances that caress the palate. The Blanc de Blancs is bottled with 4 atmospheres of pressure (as opposed to the more common 5-6), which gives softer contours and an extra degree of suppleness. The Blanc de Blancs is one again the under the radar jewel in the Roederer range. Dosage is 8 grams per liter.

vinous 2014

Rating: 92 –92

Roederer"s 2014 Brut Blanc de Blancs sizzles with tension and energy. Citrus, white flowers, crushed rocks and white pepper race across the palate. Most of the attention at Roederer falls to other wines, most notable the Cristals and the NV, but the Blanc de Blancs is a quiet wine that often overachieves, as it does in 2014. Superb.

vinous 2015

Rating: 94 –94

The 2015 Blanc de Blancs is a fabulous choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so. Soft and creamy, the 2015 is immediately caressing in its embrace. Citrus confit, white flowers, spice and a hint of pastry all meld together. There is something effortless about the 2015 that is hard to describe. The 2015 is not the last word in complexity, but it is supremely delicious. Terrific for the year. Dosage is 8 grams per liter.
