The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous le Puits derives from a higher-altitude site, but it's quite rich and ripe, delivering aromas of sweet stone fruit, beeswax and flowers followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous le Puits offers up aromas of pear, clear honey and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate that's open-knit and charming. This will drink well young.

Already bottled, the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous le Puits is showing well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of sweet citrus fruit, beeswax and crisp green apples. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with nice depth and concentration and a clean, pure finish.

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous le Puits unfurls in the glass with a youthfully reserved but attractively pure bouquet of ripe lemons, citrus blossom and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny with a broad attack, a crisp but fleshy mid-palate and a pure finish. With a few years in bottle, I suspect this will evolve into something quite exotic and gourmand.

Love the candied-lemon and lime aromas to this wine. Green mangoes, too. Full-bodied, and tight with minerality. Linear and focused. A little austere now. Subtle. Give it two or three years to come around.

Excellent tension on the generous but focused palate, driving the very long, structured finish, which has a serious stony minerality.
