Critic ratings

Rating: 86 –86

This famous negociant/vineyard owner, founded in 1797, has made very fine 1992s. The big wines, such as the top premier crus and grand crus, spend a year in 100% new oak and have considerable lees contact for the first 7-8 months, although there is no stirring, or so-called "batonage" practiced. Latour's 1992s will be released in late fall, 1993. In contrast to the Meursault-Les Perrieres, the 1992 Meursault-Les Genevrieres is leaner, with a spicy, toasty new oak component to accompany its buttered hazelnut flavors. Louis Latour is represented by different importers in each state.

Rating: 93 –93

Aromas of buttered orchard fruit, lime zest, honeycomb and white flowers introduce the 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, a medium to full-bodied wine that's satiny textured, pure and attractively delineated, displaying good concentration and depth at the core, and concluding with a long, precise finish. This is another unambiguously successful 2016 white from Latour.

Rating: 87 –87

The hazelnut butter-scented 2003 Meursault Genevrieres (white) appears to have a split personality, revealing notes of bright citrus fruit as well as some rich fleshiness. Light to medium-bodied, it would have earned a higher score if those two attributes had been melded together as opposed to competing with each other for the taster’s attention. Drink it over the next 3 years.

Rating: 90 –93

The 2002 Meursault-Genevrieres sports a nose of white peaches and yellow plums. Expansive, ample, fleshy, yet refined, this fruit-forward, medium-bodied wine has a plush flavor profile packed with resiny minerals and poached pears. It should be drunk over the next 8 years. Maison Louis Latour has a different importer in each state.

A very successful 1er Cru Meursault with super-ripe pear and some delicate floral notes. Rich and suave with beautiful integration of fruit and oak on the medium-to full-bodied palate, the generous finish simultaneously fresh and silky. Drink or hold.

A rich Meursault with wonderful textural complexity, the citrus and mirabelle flavors woven into this very nicely. Lovely interplay of creaminess and chalky minerality. Long, complete finish. Drink or hold.

Concentrated and graceful, this is citrusy and fresh and interlocks so beautifully with the chalky acidity on the full-bodied palate. Some aniseed character. The very long stony and salty finish suggests this has a wonderful future ahead of it. Drink or hold.
