Rating: 87 –87
This famous negociant/vineyard owner, founded in 1797, has made very fine 1992s. The big wines, such as the top premier crus and grand crus, spend a year in 100% new oak and have considerable lees contact for the first 7-8 months, although there is no stirring, or so-called "batonage" practiced. Latour's 1992s will be released in late fall, 1993. The 1992 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru is buttery and smoky, with rich, medium-bodied flavors. Nearly all of the grapes for this wine come from the excellent premier cru vineyard Chevenottes. Louis Latour is represented by different importers in each state.
