The 2018 Meursault Village comes from five separate climats and is fermented in 18–20% new oak. It has quite a steely bouquet, reserved at first and opening reluctantly with aeration to reveal strong gunflint aromas. The palate is well balanced with tempting pineapple and white peach notes drawing you in. Perhaps a little Chassagne-like in terms of weight, and quite persistent on the mint-tinged finish. Very fine, but I bet you drink it too early.

The 2020 Meursault Village has a straightforward, light apply bouquet with touches of quince. The palate is taut and fresh, more sappy than other cuvées, with a twist of bitter lemon on the finish. Fine.

Five plots around the village. There’s an instant impression of richness, alongside with tropical fruits such as pineapples and melons. Some stony notes, too. The palate has a very smooth core of gentle, fleshy tropical and stone fruits. Good depth and weight. Acidity is working below deck to balance. Drink now to 2020.

Some attractive, youthful complexity here with a very flinty, stony edge to the grapefruit and young peaches. The palate has a very succulent feel with a creamy layer at the finish. Drink or hold.

A classically structured wine for this appellation with the weight and round generosity that we expect from it, but with plenty of bright citrus and pear fruit, something these wines can lack a bit of. Good depth with an excellent integration of chalky minerality and healthy acidity at the long and delicate finish. With aeration a touch of vanilla bean develops on the nose. Drink or hold.

This has aromas of lemons, hazelnuts, golden pears and nectarine notes. Just about full-bodied, so fresh, with excellent balance and creamy fruit. Drink now or hold.

Nicely broad and rich in aromas but kept refined and elegant in the Drouhin style, with fresh apples, crisp pears, minerals and a hint of butter. This has the purity and polish of the appellation and is tempting to drink now. Best after 2027.

Aromas of ripe apples, chalk and stone with hints of crushed oyster shells, following through to a full body with a creamy texture and a long, crunchy finish. Subtle Meursault. Drink now.
